Abraaj Capital eyes Turkey's Calik media assets
Dubai-based Abraaj Capital is among companies interested in bidding for the media assets of Turkey's Calik Holding, ATV television and newspaper Sabah, which are being evaluated separately, Reuters has reported, citing two sources close to the sale process. "ATV and Sabah assets were separated. Investors' interest was focused on ATV television," a source close to the matter said. "Abraaj was also added to the interested investors." Calik Holding, which has interests in energy and finance, hired Goldman Sachs for the sale of its media assets ATV and Sabah in January.

Google bypassed IE privacy settings too, says Microsoft
Microsoft has said it has discovered that Google has sidestepped privacy settings of its Internet Explorer, Cnet has reported. "When the IE team heard that Google had bypassed user privacy settings on Safari, we asked ourselves a simple question: is Google circumventing the privacy preferences of Internet Explorer users too?" IE executive Dean Hachamovitch wrote in a blog post. "We've discovered the answer is yes: Google is employing similar methods to get around the default privacy protections in IE and track IE users with cookies."

Mindshare media agency opens Baghdad office
Mindshare has said it is to become the first international media agency to open an office in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Campaign ME has reported. The Dubai-based agency is in the process of setting up the operation in Baghdad, with an official opening expected to take place next month. Other agencies are already based in the more stable northern Iraq, with Leo Burnett operating an office in Sulaymaniyah. However, no agency has previously ventured into volatile Baghdad.
